Hi guys...

What if The Hulk pulls in the same numbers as Scooby Do. Then it's not going to do more than 60 million. Do you think it's a possibility. If it is... maybe
The Hulk: 64.9M or < 15/1 @ bodog for $5 is a move to make.

Some feed back, please.

I think the two movies have very little in common other than both have a computer animated character.

Yeah, just like I swore to you that 2f2f was going to be a bomb. O.K., I didn't swear but still, I haven't been too hot lately. I still think the Hulk will do upwards of 80 million though.

The Hulk will likely do AT LEAST $23,500 per theater, based on the history of similar films. If it's released in 3500 theaters, which it probably will, it will open with about $82,250,000. It is even MORE likely that it will open with about $25,000 per theater, and, at that rate, it would open with $87,500,000. There is zero chance that this film opens with less than 70mil.

To follow up what I'm saying. The following are similar (loosely) films, with their corresponding, adjusted opening, on a per theater basis.

Spiderman: 31,768
X2: 22,871
Batman forever: 24,757
Batman returns: 25,231
Batman and Robin: 18,470
Batman: 28,304

I would say that 23,500 is pretty safe, and, considering the way the box office is going this year, I would even venture out to guess 25,000 per theater. If I had to make a prediction right now, I would say around $85mil on it's opening weekend.

You are *assuming* that The Hulk does more per theater than X-Men 2?

Pass me some of what you're smokin'

Good post, sound of silence. Alot to contribute, I see. Yes, I'm assuming that and, so are most of the experts. I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time), but, considering that there IS a precedent (Spiderman, the Batmans, Matrix...etc), I don't think I'm being THAT unreasonable.

I do, as the Spidermans, Batmans, and Matrixes (matrices?

) all had either a bigger fanbase (Batman) or were more anticapated (Spiderman/Matrix). There's not a whole lot of buzz surrounding this movie, and most anyone you talk to says it looks really fake/bad -- they weren't saying that about Spiderman and The Matrix.

I completely disagree. I think that, at best, it's debatable as to which of these movies has the bigger fan base. And, as for there not being alot of buzz, are you kidding me? It's all that everyone is talking about. This movie will gross over $80 mil in it's sleep. Keep in mind that, according to the Yahoo buzz charts, the Hulk is number 6 on the list and has been on the list for 88 consecutive weeks. Care to reconsider your "lack of buzz" reasoning? There is ALOT of hype surrounding this film, and, I know what you are saying about it looking fake, but, anyone and everyone that I know has said that they will be there on opening night to watch it.

I will stick by my prediction of $85mil. And, once again, assuming it opens in about 3500 theaters, I think that $90mil is certainly within the realm of possibility. But, as stated earlier, I've been wrong before.

Being #6 on the "Buzz List" is hardly that great an accomplishment, as the list is made up of sequels to decent movies or movies with a marketable, well-known character.

I could leak info that any popular comic book character movie is coming out, and it would immediately appear on the "Buzz" list.

There is not near the "buzz" around this movie as there was X-Men, Spiderman, The Matrix, or the Batman series.

Another thing:

"In a 6/8 interview with Taiwanese newspapers, Ang said both Universal Executives and theaters are 'very' pleased and satisfied with the final cut. And the producer promised to budget more money into marketing efforts, possibly up to a total of 150 mil.

He also mentioned 90% of the marketing spending would materialize in the final 2 weeks prior to the release."

So, at least we know that they have quite the marketing machine behind them.
